Haven't managed to get a game of subby in since August 2011 and the Wycombe League that I was in (and it was a great re-introduction back into subby last year, well apart from that last mauling that I took from Stevie G in August!) seems to have faltered and work commitment will mean that I am likely to miss the Maidenhead event again (really wanted to get to the fair bit - still looking for a HW 22, 32, 37, 61, 62, 63, 70 and 73 for my 1-81), so would love to have an opportunity to play again at whatever opportunity presents itself. Bracknell isn't too far from Amersham and so looking forward to being able to meet up.

Do try and make the Lionhearts meeting in February. I think you'll really enjoy it.

I believe that mauling you mentioned was a one-off, John. Everything I hit seemed to 'come off' on the day. Those games are few and far between, my friend. I think the other, much closer encounters we had, are what you can expect.

I think everything is still on, Lee. Haven't heard anything different.

JR played Jim in a few friendlies recently, and I think Jim is up for it. Would imagine Steve Moreton and Vic will be there too.

That day was just so awful - getting you and Calum Smith back-to-back was no joy, I almost threw my teams in the bin when I got back home! Fortunately I didn't but what with work commitments and lack of opportunities to play in Mark's Wycombe league, I haven't been able to play since that day in August and desperately need to exorcise that memory.

What has happened to Mark's Subbuteo league? I got back last weekend and went onto the new web-site to found out what was happening about the proposed one day Winter league but didn't see any recent news and it looked as though there hadn't been any posts on the web-site since early December. I thought that Mark ran an excellent league, he was very welcoming, his enthusiasm for the game was infectious and he encouraged a good, friendly spirit and it is pity if we can't keep the league going in some form. I have tried emailing Mark but haven't had a response as yet. Grateful for any update that you can provide.

On these Lionheart meets, what pitches and figures do we play with?

26th Feb is looking good for me currently and so looking forward to seeing some old and new faces.

Mark has been very difficult to contact. Many have tried, with little or no response, so cannot really shed any light on his sudden lack of interest. It's a shame, but it seems as though there will be no further Wycombe action.

Lionhearts is Old Subbuteo ( Old Subbuteo Rules ), HW / LW or replica bases on baize pitches. Everybody plays everybody on the day.
