1. An attacking figure is only in an offside position when ...

It is closer to the goal line than the ball

It is fully inside the shooting zone, and a defending figure is either touching the shooting zone line or inside it

There are NOT two defending figures ( or one defending figure and a goalkeeper ) closer to the goal line

2. For every turn in possession, an attacking player is permitted a maximum of 2 'onside flicks'

The defender is allowed to counter with a defensive blocking flick for each onside flick

If an attacker has used both 'onside flicks' he can attempt to retain possession without being caught offside by using the figure in an offside position to play the ball

3. A figure flicked into an onside position is not allowed to play the ball until it has been played by another figure

4. Onside flicks cannot be played over the half way line, and should be played parallel to the sideline, or as close to parallel as possible

5. A defending player cannot play an attacking figure into an offside position with a defensive blocking flick following an 'onside flick'

6. If after positional flicks prior to a free kick, an attacker has a figure in an offside position, the 'onside flick' must wait until the the free kick has been taken

7. A figure called offside as soon as any part of the ball has past the last defending figure

If the ball touches a defending figure en route and then goes on to touch the attacking figure in an offside position, it is not penalised for being offside

This rule does't seem to be applied these days, in fact 'onside' flicks are often used as 'blocking' flicks

Also... Don't Advanced rules indicate that the defensive blocking flick ( in response to attackers 'onside' flick ) should only be used to mark the figure flicked onside ??

Yes, John ... The Advanced Rules indicate the defensive blocking flick in response to the attackers onside flick should only be used to mark the figure flicked onside.

And you're right ... the onside flick stipulations don't seem to be adhered to.
Not sure if our Italian friends play to this rule or not?
