PostSubject: Throw In & Figures Off The Pitch   Sun Jun 12, 2011 10:29 pm

1. A THROW IN is awarded when the ball is played fully over the sideline

There must be green visible between ball and sideline when viewed from directly above

2. The correct procedure ...

Ball is placed on the sideline at the point of exit

The attacking player removes a figure from play to take the throw in

The attacking player makes one positional flick

The defending player in turn makes one positional flick also

The throw in is then taken

3. The attacking player can demand 90mm distance, should any figure be too close to the throw in

4. The figure taking the throw in must not cross or obscure the sideline

If this happens, the throw in is awarded to the other side

5. As with ALL SET PLAYS, the taker cannot touch the ball again until it has touched another figure

6. A throw in can be forced off an opponent, only when the figures involved and ball are entirely inside one quarter

Should this not be the case, the throw in is awarded to the defending player

7. After the throw in has been executed, the thrower should be returned to the original position of the set play on the sideline

8. Should the taker of the throw in end up in an offside position, the attacker is allowed an 'automatic flick' to put the taker back in an onside position

9. If a figure leaves the field of play, but curls back into play without touching any boundary, it should stay where it comes to rest

10. If a figure leaves the field of play, and bounces back into play having touched any boundary, it should be placed on the sideline at the point of exit

11. A figure leaving the field of play but remaining on the playing surface can be played from where it is, providing it is the very next play

Otherwise it is placed on the sideline at the point of exit

In the Wycombe League, both Old Subbuteo & New Subbuteo Leagues are being played, although both Leagues adhere to the Old Subbuteo rules.

However, there are a couple of little tweaks for the New Subbuteo League, one of them being the throw in rule ...

The figure is allowed to follow the ball over the sideline ( as a player does once he has taken a throw in real football ), but the ball cannot travel over 2 QUARTER LINES. In effect, the maximum distance the ball can travel is just shy of 2 pitch quarters.
